An oft-repeated piece of advice given to golfers is “keep your eye on the ball.” It is accepted as a profound golfing axiom (which properly understood it is), but it is necessary to examine what we mean by it and how it fits into the rest of our golfing program.

Golf and the Weather

Weather certainly plays a huge role in a good golf game. Obviously, if it is raining, you aren’t going to be able to golf as easily as if the sun was shining. While summer golf provides great weather conditions, you also won’t want to be on the course when it’s 110 degrees in the shade (which makes it hotter on the fairway!)

When it comes to golf apparel, there really are many choices available.  What to wear isn’t always the first thing on a golfer’s mind, but choosing the right golf apparel can make a difference in playing well and playing not so well.  It’s true!

Many of the nicer clubs have rules as to what golf apparel is acceptable on their course.  This usually means no tee shirts, tank tops or short shorts, shirts must have collars, and no jeans are allowed.  Other courses are not as restrictive and you can choose what you want to wear as long as it is tasteful.
